Anti-Wrinkle Injections in Aberdeen

Happy, confident woman
Happy Patient

Dr Siobhan provides Anti-wrinkle injections, commonly referred to as 'Botox' injections.

They cause the upper face muscles to relax, smoothing out wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyes, around the eyes, nose and mouth.

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Our anti-wrinkle injections involve injecting small quantities of Botulinum Toxin (BOTOX®) into specific muscles using a tiny needle; this smooths lines and wrinkles by stopping the muscle from moving. As the muscle no longer contracts to cause crease lines, it creates a natural softening to dynamic lines and wrinkles and gives you a natural, fresh, and rejuvenated appearance.

Anti-wrinkle injections do not remove deep, fixed lines, they may reduce them slightly, and they will stop them from getting worse. Still, if they are deep, you will also require dermal filler. Dr Siobhan will be able to advise you on the day of your appointment if Botox is the right option for you or if another treatment is required to remove your lines.

When administered correctly, Botox will typically last for 3 – 4 months (however individual factors apply and some clients get a longer or shorter duration than this), Botox is not painful as ultrafine needles are used. However, it can be mildly uncomfortable, and if you would like, then we can apply a numbing cream to the area 10 minutes before treatment, which will make it entirely pain-free.

It is a quick, easy, and very effective treatment with little or no recovery time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Treatment Suitable For Me? Please read the list below carefully, if any of the below apply to you, you will not be suitable for treatment. If none of the below apply to you, you can proceed to booking a consultation where Dr Siobhan will conduct a thorough medical history to check your suitability. Please note, in some cases Dr Siobhan may deem you unsuitable for treatment after consultation for reasons other than the below. Pregnant or breastfeeding Those who have had an adverse reaction to Botox® in the past Those who have an active infection If you have a neurological disorder e.g. Myasthenia Gravis, Eaton Lambert Syndrome or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Will I Bruise? Bruising is one of the potential side effects of treatments such as Botox® and varies from patient to patient. Often patients suffer from very little bruising after injections. If you’re concerned about bruising, we advise you to avoid taking medications such as Aspirin, Naproxen and Ibuprofen in the week of your treatment as these all increase the chances of bruising. Avoiding alcohol and excessive exercise before or after treatment is also advisable.

Is It Safe To Have Treatment ? Yes, absolutely. We have many protocols in place to ensure that you are completely safe when having treatment.

Does Treatment Hurt And What If I Am Scared Of Needles? Treatment, especially the provision of Botox® is generally a painless treatment because we use very fine needles and Dr Siobhan is highly trained and skilled. Generally, the treatment is carried out without anaesthetic, although as a dentist, Dr Siobhan can provide topical or local anaesthetic if required. However, should you have any concerns before, or during your treatment, please raise this with Dr Siobhan.

How Long Does Treatment Take To Work and How Long Does Last? With anti-wrinkle injections (Botox®), results can display from 3-4 days after the treatment but it can take up to 2 weeks to see the full effects. Everyone is different so longevity of treatment varies from patient to patient and treatment to treatment. Generally treatment using Botox® lasts anywhere between 3-6 months.

What If I Don’t Like The Results? At The Terrace Aesthetics, we aim to provide you with the results that you want. The treatments we use, such as Botox® are not a permanent treatment and will therefore break down and wear off after a few months. We may also be able to dissolve some treatments if it is appropriate to do so.

How Long Does an Appointment Last? The appointment can last anything between 30-45 minutes. The actual injecting only takes up a small amount of this time. The length of the appointment depends on the number of areas that you have treated, as well as the comprehensive consultation of your requirements.

Will People Be Able To Tell I’ve Had Treatment? Dr Siobhan will always ask about your expectations and advise you on how much Botox® you will need to achieve your desired result.

What Are The Potential Risks Of Treatment? Before deciding whether to go ahead with treatment it is important that you are aware of the potential risks and side effects of Botox® treatment. Most side effects are related to the actual injecting of the skin and not the product itself. Side effects can include: Minor redness or swelling Minor bruising Headache Migraine - 2% of people can experience this Infection - this is rare and can occur around the injection site Droop of the eyelid - this occurs in very rare cases and is temporary Dr Siobhan will discuss the risks and benefits prior to your treatment. You will also be provided with aftercare instructions to minimise the risks and promote a speedy recovery.

What is a Review appointment? The Review appointment allows Dr Siobhan to assess your results. The appointment and any necessary tweaks (if applicable) are completely free of charge. After your treatment we'll arrange an appointment. The appointment should take place within 2 weeks of your original treatment appointment.
