Hyperhidrosis Treatment in Aberdeen

At The Terrace Aesthetics Clinic, Aberdeen, Dr Siobhan can offer treatment which can help with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Dr. Siobhan provides medical hyperhidrosis treatments at our clinic in Rubislaw Terrace, Aberdeen.
What are medical hyperhidrosis treatments?
Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections provide an effective treatment for hyperhidrosis in many people.
Treatment involves injecting small doses of Botox, the same agents used to aid skin wrinkles into the skin of the affected areas. They work by blocking the action of nerves that supply the eccrine (sweat) glands. This stops the glands from producing sweat.
Treatment blocks the nerve ending for about 6-12 weeks, but then new nerve endings start to form. This means the effects of the treatment of hyperhidrosis lasts for several months but will eventually wear off.

Pregnant or breastfeeding Those who have had an adverse reaction to Botox® in the past Those who have an active infection If you have a neurological disorder e.g. Myasthenia Gravis, Eaton Lambert Syndrome or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Will I Bruise? Bruising is one of the potential side effects of treatments such as Botox® and varies from patient to patient. Often patients suffer from very little bruising after injections. If you’re concerned about bruising, we advise you to avoid taking medications such as Aspirin, Naproxen and Ibuprofen in the week of your treatment as these all increase the chances of bruising. Avoiding alcohol and excessive exercise before or after treatment is also advisable.
Is It Safe To Have Treatment ? Yes, absolutely. We have many protocols in place to ensure that you are completely safe when having treatment.
Does Treatment Hurt And What If I Am Scared Of Needles? Treatment, especially the provision of Botox® is generally a painless treatment because we use very fine needles and Dr Siobhan is highly trained and skilled. Generally, the treatment is carried out without anaesthetic, although as a dentist, Dr Siobhan can provide topical or local anaesthetic if required. However, should you have any concerns before, or during your treatment, please raise this with Dr Siobhan.
How Long Does Treatment Take To Work and How Long Does Last? With anti-wrinkle injections (Botox®), results can display from 3-4 days after the treatment but it can take up to 2 weeks to see the full effects. Everyone is different so longevity of treatment varies from patient to patient and treatment to treatment. Generally treatment using Botox® lasts anywhere between 3-6 months.
What If I Don’t Like The Results? At The Terrace Aesthetics, we aim to provide you with the results that you want. The treatments we use, such as Botox® are not a permanent treatment and will therefore break down and wear off after a few months. We may also be able to dissolve some treatments if it is appropriate to do so.
How Long Does an Appointment Last? The appointment can last anything between 30-45 minutes. The actual injecting only takes up a small amount of this time. The length of the appointment depends on the number of areas that you have treated, as well as the comprehensive consultation of your requirements.
Will People Be Able To Tell I’ve Had Treatment? Dr Siobhan will always ask about your expectations and advise you on how much Botox® you will need to achieve your desired result.
